On a recent trip to Toronto I visited the old and new City Hall. As we were walking around the pond and fountains to the new building, I glanced over to the old building and was rewarded with this picture. I was amazed at how well the mirrored buildings blended into the composition.
This building was designed by E.J. Lennox. It opened in 1899, but construction took ten years. At that time, it was the largest building in Toronto, and the largest municipal building in North America. (thanks wikipedia)
That day was very good to me. I got many great shots around Toronto.
I knew about the new building being used in a few video games, but didn't know about the Star Trek use. I'll have to re-watch the movie. (yes, I own all 10 movies on DVD...directors cuts!)
Any suggestions for places to visit the next time I go? It's become an annual holiday me and the mister. I think we've hit all the major tourist locations, but would love an insiders scoop on some out of the way, but great places.
Thanks! I took a few other shots from the front, on Queen Street I believe, not as impressive. As I was walking around the "pond", when I looked left and my jaw hit the ground. A beautiful city, to be sure.
There are always the minor tourist locations I wasn't impressed with Casa Loma, but there's the Science Centre (like the SF Exploratorium, and connected with it), and the Toronto Islands.
After that it sort of depends on what interests you. Check a copy of Now Magazine (a free newspaper) for events; there are always tons, all year round. Everything from the opera to the leather ball
I could be more specific if I knew more. Or ask me a week or two before you go!
Toronto is such a marvelous city! Although I have seen it only for two days in the pouring rain, I loved it.
This is a phantasticly sharp and detailed photograph. Wonderful!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
