Artist's Comments

I was diagnosed with Type-2 Diabetes earlier this year. It's under control with pills and diet (no insulin shots yet).

I created the blood drop in Illustrator, but I used the stamp template from zilla774. [link]

[edit] It was suggested that I add the common symptoms of diabetes to the artist comment section. I think that's a great idea. The following were take from the American Diabetes Association website [link]
* Frequent urination
* Excessive thirst
* Extreme hunger
* Unusual weight loss
* Increased fatigue
* Irritability
* Blurry vision

I didn't have weight loss, but did have all the others.

[edit] Anyone may use this. No need to ask permission. If you use, please :+fav:. I like to look at where it's being shown.

[edit 2008-12-15] Wow - it took me a year to catch the error in this comment. I originally said I was diagnosed with Type-1 diabetes...in fact I have type-2. While it was inherited from my fathers side of the family, I was diagnosed when I was 35. Hardly "juvenile" diabetes, as type-1 is often called. I apologize for any confusion.

Sorry to hear about your problem... My best friend has been diabetic all of her life. Very nice stamp though! :) I'll be sure to use it when/if I get a subscription! :D

Animals aren't all that stupid; they don't whine about the weather. Everyone of them knows that, even if it sucks, it is what it is and no whining will make it any different.
They're also not so stupid to think they can control it.
I don't consider it a problem...just something else I have to think about. I haven't stopped eating anything, I just make sure I don't over-do it on any starches/carbs in a meal. If I want pie for dessert, I make sure I don't have potatoes in the meal. It's terrible, but I think of it like the old Richard Simmons, Deal a Meal :)

Thanks for your support. I'm sure your friend is grateful too.

Thanks! I had to settle for the blood drop the way it is, I would have liked it to have more of the detail from the original I made.

It was a surprise to get my diagnosis...but it shouldn't have been. Many of the relatives on my fathers side of the family have Type 1.

Aww, I like the way it looks!

Yeah? Aww...I got my diagnosis relatively young...

That's a nice stamp I definitely will use soon. Thank you for making this :heart:

I was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 1 when I was 10 years old, so that's 10 years ago. Good to know you can take care of your health by taking pills and a diet. I'm happy for you :)
I have to take insuline shots 4 to 5 times a day *sigh* but it works for me so it's all good!

Thanks. :D
I never thought so many people would use this stamp. I made is for myself, but I am glad others are getting use out of it.

Sorry to hear about your Type1. Glad to hear it's controlled. I didn't really know it until after I was diagnosed, but Type 2 runs in my family.

Thank you for the stamp, I wish I could use it though.
I was diagnosed with an insulin problem two years ago and since then I'm struggling to get it under control with pills and diet or I may develop Type 2. I'm glad your diabetes is under control :)

Thank you. I still have my bad days when I eat more of the things I shouldn't...white bread, potatoes, rice...I'm sure you know them all. I hope you get control. I don't know if I have any suggestions that fit your particulars. I know testing often in the beginning helped me to see how food and other medicines effected me. Now I test about twice a week...more if I feel "odd" and want to see if it's connected to glucose.

I test myself twice a year now, but when I started I tested every 3 months, exercise has helped me a lot when it comes to control my insulin and weight :)
